AUM - Ammonia, Urea Ammonium Nitrate 32% Solution and Melamine

Manufacturing Process

AUM is an integrated Ammonia, Urea Ammonium Nitrate Solution and Melamine Complex. The feedstock for these products is obtained from integrated Ammonia, Urea, Nitric Acid and Ammonium Nitrate Plants.

Ammonia is a key component in all AUM production processes. In addition to being an important commodity that is used as a fertiliser, Ammonia is the feedstock for the production of Urea Solution and for the production of Ammonium Nitrate and Nitric Acid.

The UAN 32% Solution process

UAN is a solution of urea and ammonium nitrate in water and is used as a fertiliser.

Urea Solution and Ammonium Nitrate solution Nitric Acid are the feedstocks for the production of Urea Ammonium Nitrate, UAN 32% Solution. The ammonium nitrate is formed by reacting nitric acid with ammonia in the Ammonium Nitrate plant. After production and mixing, the UAN 32% Solution is then transported by pipeline to a storage tanks where it is held for export, primarily to Europe and the Americas.

The Melamine Process

Melamine is a white, crystalline substance which is used to manufacture a wide range of products such as laminates, wood adhesive resins and surface coatings.

Ammonia and Urea are the primary feedstocks for the production of Melamine.

During the production process, all waste streams coming out from the plant are recovered or decomposed to ammonia and carbon dioxide and recycled with the off gases to the urea plant so there is minimal wastage and impact on the environment.

The melamine powder is then processed, bagged, and transported by truck to the port for export.
