MHTL is committed to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago and recognizes the value of supporting the communities in which it operates, therefore pledging its support to a number of initiatives in the areas of education, sports, arts, culture, personal development and the environment.
MHTL recognizes that great importance must be placed on nurturing and developing the youth of Trinidad and Tobago, with the company’s sponsorship of St. Margaret’s Boys Steel Orchestra’s and their Summer 2015 performance at Carnegie Hall, New York and 2016 performance in Orlando, Florida.
The company also in its devotion to promoting and developing Trinidad and Tobago’s music and culture, signed a three-year sponsorship agreement of the Woodbrook based, Starlift Steel Orchestra, now known as the MHTL Starlift Steel Orchestra, in October 2015. In 2016 MHTL was a co-sponsor of the Trinidad and Tobago Biennial Music Festival held during the year.
In the field of education, MHTL has been a longstanding sponsor of the MHTL Chair in Petroleum Engineering at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and a founding member and financial supporter of the National Energy Skills Centre (NESC). The company has also provided financial support and sponsorship to the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT).
The company has also provided financial and other support to many secondary and primary schools in the country including St Joseph Convent Port of Spain, Waterloo High School, Naparima Girls High School, Fatima College, Naparima College, Couva Anglican Primary School among others.
Benevolent support has also been provided to many deserving charities in the community. The charities and organizations who have been recipients of MHTL support include Living Waters Community, the Hope Center Children’s Home, Couva Children’s Home and Crisis Center, Couva Home for the Age, Lady Hochoy Home for the Handicapped (South), Audrey Jeffers School for the Deaf, Autistic Society of Trinidad& Tobago, Family First Foundation (Tobago), Tobago School for the Deaf and National Center for Persons with Diabilities.
